We Now Know What Caused the FAA Outage
All things considered, flights to the U.S. are quite common. Ground Early Wednesday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration reported that a system problem had been identified. “damaged database file.”
“The FAA is continuing a thorough review to determine the root cause of the Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system outage,” The FAA issued a statement Wednesday evening. “Our preliminary work has traced the outage to a damaged database file.”
The Notice to Air Missions system provides safety information to flight crews.
“At this time, there is no evidence of a cyber attack,” The statement went on. “The FAA is working diligently to further pinpoint the causes of this issue and take all needed steps to prevent this kind of disruption from happening again.”

Pete Buttigieg, the Transportation Secretary in Trouble, said that the review will continue.
FAA continues its system review under my direction. Preliminary investigations have found that the problem is related to a corrupt database file. There are no signs of a cyberattack.
FAA will continue to work to identify the source of this problem and take steps to prevent it happening again.

After the grounding, lawmakers attacked Buttigieg. This was just the latest in a series of transportation disasters that have occurred under his leadership.
