Brad Slager: At Davos, the WEF Panel on Disinformation Was a Comedy of Bloviators, Moderated by Expert Brian Stelter
This week, the 2023 World Economic Forum will be held. The gathering is widely seen as the gathering of power brokers from around the globe, who meet in an unsettling fashion to discuss ways of distributing control over people in the name global harmony. Just a few of these sessions and panels are listed to avoid you feeling too harsh. “Profit and Purpose: Accelerating Equity of Opportunity,” “AI for Climate Adaptation,” “Tackling Harm in the Digital Era,” “Stewarding Responsible Capitalism,” “A Living Wage for All,” These and many other things.
As the elites travel to Switzerland to kite, there is one panel that stands out. was entitled “The Clear and Present Danger of Disinformation.“ We then saw who was on the panel. A. G. Sulzberger (figurehead of The New York Times) was on the panel. Seth Moulton, a Democratic Congressman from the Czech Republic, was also present. Vera Jourova is Vice President of European Commission for Values and Transparency. Formerly, he was European Commission for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality.Jeanne Bourgault is President and CEO at Internews. Then there’s the capper.
The panel was moderated by…Brian Stelter. This disinformation panel was led by Brian Stelter (the man who was dismissed from hyper-partisan CNN for being too slanted) and had previously dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop tale. pushed the false narrative This is it a false flag news item from the Russians. He – Stelter – would be running a panel on disinformation. I guess when you need an expert on the subject…
This discussion was fascinating to me. It took very little time for me to notice the wheels starting to move. It started with Sulzberger discussing the topic of disinformation. “The broader mix of bad information that’s corrupting the information ecosystem – what it attacks is trust,” He stated. That he was saying this as the publisher of The New York Times is laughable enough, but doing so in response to the disgraced Brian Stelter had – at the two-minute mark – already discredited this entire panel.
Sulzberger asked a question about the term “fake news” Coming to rise six years ago and where it is today, is clearly a reference Donald Trump’s famed talking points. Sulzberger makes the obvious point of pointing out that it was a sign other oppressive regimes like the Nazis. Unironically, he added another comment which showed his complete lack of reflection with these experts.
“So, I think any time we’re hearing language like that applied to a free press, or more broadly free expression, I think we should be really worried,” He stated that wAs others discussed the practice of cancelling out what they call “disinformation”, he sat with them. Brian Stelter heard him say this and cheered the removal OAN from Direct TV. He also supported the deplatforming of Parler, a social media platform. This is a great way to expose the absurdity of this panel. “experts” Deploring the practice they have also enforced, as the high-ranking minds in media.
Jourava spoke for a long time about the importance of moderating information that could be considered harmful. Next, she discussed the country’s methods for addressing problems. After the panel had discussed the threat of oppressive government attacking expression, she said this:

When asked about using such tactics in the country, Moulton seemed to be the most rational of all the panelists. Although there were some concerns, he said that he didn’t believe anyone in Congress would be looking to take on the First Amendment. Stelter was unaware of recent events. “Haven’t we seen many Democrats in the past six years pressuring FaceBook and Twitter to be stronger in content moderation?” He was curious. Yes, Brian, we have – and the Twitter Files show how those Democrats and other government agencies were complicit in working to silence voices. Brian, people are not thrilled by these revelations as it exposes the oppressive government tactics your panel just condemned as dangerous.
This demonstrates how naive this panel was in their approach. This display reveals that they don’t care about disinformation but rather control information. These elitists want to dictate the acceptable speech and then to shape the national narratives. They can’t be straight while they disparage the government for restricting citizens’ freedom of expression and then promote the very activities that led to it.
They have shown that disinformation is a concern. They want to be the sole arbiters of what is considered misinformation, dangerous speech, or fake reporting – in other words, wrongthink. They can control the approval process and then the speech. That could lead to the totalitarian censorship of which they are concerned.
It will not be taken into consideration “censorship” When THEY are the ones silenced sources. It will be couched as benevolent control done for the sake of safety…and they are supposed to be applauded for that oppressive control.
