Massachusetts Man Allegedly Trying To Find Hitman To Kill Wife First Hired Scammer, Then Undercover Federal Agent
A Boston, MassachusettsMan allegedly tried to hire hitman kill His wife claimed that the first person he had hired conned him. The second was an undercover federal agent.
Mohammed Chowdhury, 46, was arrested and charged with one count of murder-for-hire for attempting to have his wife and her boyfriend killed, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said in a press release Last week.
In November 2022, someone contacted federal law enforcement to say that Chowdhury was trying to hire someone to kill his wife, and that he had already paid for the murder, but that individual who took the money didn’t follow through with the crime. Chowdhury told federal authorities that he was willing to rob a shop to finance the hit, and that he wanted the murder committed as soon possible.
The informant provided law enforcement with Chowdhury’s phone number, and an undercover agent began posing as a contract killer.
Authorities claim that Chowdhury had numerous meetings with undercover agents between December 2022-January 2023. They offered to help him in the murders. Chowdhury’s wife allegedly left him for the new lover.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Chowdhury asked the undercover agents: “So how we gonna disappear his, uh, body?” He also suggested that they could be. “No evidence. No evidence. No evidence from like, you know, that, uh, I did something, you know?”
Chowdhury is also accused of providing the undercover agents photos of his wife as well as her new boyfriend, their address as well as information about their work schedules and where they worked.
He agreed to pay the fake murderer $4,000 per killing, plus $500 upfront.
Chowdhury allegedly met the undercover agents January 17 and provided the deposit, while also confirming that he wanted to murder his wife and her boyfriend. Authorities said that he was taken into federal custody.
Chowdhury was not the first to be charged with his wife. Chowdhury pleaded guilty to the charges of violating an Abuse Prevention Order that his wife filed against him in October 2019.
Chowdhury could be sentenced to up to 10 years imprisonment if convicted. He will also receive three years of supervised freedom and a maximum fine of $250,000.
