Former Dem Oregon Mayor Sentenced on Child Porn Charge
Former Democrat mayor of Beaverton (Oregon) will be speaking Tuesday Dennis Doyle After pleading guilty in one count of possessing, was sentenced for six months federal prison child pornography.
Doyle, aged 73, was originally charged in March 2013.
In a statementThe Department of Justice Doyle would have to pay $22,000 restitution to his victims in addition to prison time. He would also be subject to five-year supervision.
According to DOJ, Beaverton Police Department was alerted first in January 2022 by an employee at a local business to the existence of a USB stick containing child pornography.
Members of law enforcement were able find illicit images on the drive and turned it over to them. Doyle was identified by personal photographs.
Special agents from the FBI’s Portland Child Exploitation Task Force visited Doyle at his house and referred the case to them. Doyle immediately admitted that he had downloaded the images from his computer. Doyle also had other devices that were searched for evidence of illicit images. However, none were found.
He was charged in court on March 3. He pleaded guilty seven month later.
Doyle was mayor of Beaverton between 2008 and 2020. The child pornography was downloaded while Doyle was in office, in November 2014 and December 2015. Many of the minors in the photos were younger than twelve years old.
