Former President Jimmy Carter Once Found Classified Docs At His Home: Report

Former Democratic President Jimmy Carter Once he found classified documents from the government at his house, which he then gave to the National Archives, According to a new report.

One person familiar with the matter said that mishandling classified documents has been a persistent problem at the highest level of the U.S. Government. Associated Press. Documents are found where they shouldn’t be and given to the National Archives at least once a year.

The person who told the AP that Carter had found sensitive documents from the government in his Georgia home on at least one occasion. It’s not clear when or when the documents were discovered.

Coincidentally Carter signed the Presidential Records Act in 1980, but it didn’t go into effect until after he left office. Former President Ronald Reagan was still in the White House. Before the law, presidential records were generally considered to be the president’s private property, not the government’s property, according to the AP.

This report on Carter is the result of a string of classified document finds that has harmed one sitting president and one former president as well as one former vice president within six months. The FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida resort, in August to confiscate materials marked classified.

Attorneys for President Joe Biden found classified documents stored in his former office at a think-tank in Washington, D.C., and at the president’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, on four occasions. The FBI found more documents in the president’s Wilmington home when they searched the house on Friday evening.

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s attorney found a batch of classified documents at Pence’s home in Indiana last week, which Pence promptly turned over to the National Archives, according to his team. After the public revelations of classified documents relating to Biden earlier this month, Pence had his home searched.

Attorney General Merrick Galrland has appointed two Special Counsels to supervise Justice Department investigations into Trump & Biden.

A slew of new discoveries have forced Republicans and Democrats to make awkward gestures about their leaders. Both had kept classified materials at their private homes.

“They’re trying to attack former President Trump. Biden was chair of the Foreign Relations Committee” In the Senate, Senate Minority whip John Thune (R–SD) said POLITICO. “He should have known better. And they were trying to claim the high ground on this issue when the shoe was on the other foot. And I think it’s a very tough issue for them to have to navigate right now.”

Democrats claim that Biden has done a better job of the discovery than Trump.

“He has done well by cooperating every step of the way, unlike Trump, but he still has documents that I don’t understand why he’d have in his personal possession,” Dick Durbin, D-IL, is the Senate Judiciary Chairman.
