Pfizer Finally Responds to Project Veritas Videos

Project Veritas’ latest undercover sting may have been its most insane yet. This is a Must-see Video, the investigative journalism outlet’s founder, James O’Keefe, confronts a man named Jordon Trishton Walker after a secretly-recorded admission that Pfizer is mutating COVID-19 to create vaccines.

Walker, described in the video to be a Director of Research and Development becomes aggressive and a physical confrontation ensues. The results are shocking.

After days of silence, Pfizer finally spoke up. In a lengthy StatementThe pharmaceutical company known for its COVID-19 vaccination, claims that it doesn’t perform gain-of function research.

Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is under development. Pfizer hasn’t conducted any gain of functionality or directed evolution research. With collaborators, we conducted research in which the original SARS CoV-2 virus was used to create spike protein from new varieties of concern. Once a new variant of concern is identified by public health officials, this work will be done. This research allows us to quickly assess whether an existing vaccine can induce antibodies that neutralize a new variant of concern. This data is then made available to peer-reviewed scientific journals. We use it to determine if a vaccine update should be done.

In addition, to meet U.S. and global regulatory requirements for our oral treatment, PAXLOVID™, Pfizer undertakes in vitro work (e.g., in a laboratory culture dish) to identify potential resistance mutations to nirmatrelvir, one of PAXLOVID’s two components. Regularly assessing the activity of antivirals is essential with a naturally evolving virus. Most of this work is conducted using computer simulations or mutations of the main protease–a non-infectious part of the virus. A virus that does not have any known gain-of-function mutations may be engineered in a few cases to allow for the evaluation of cells’ antiviral activity. In vitro resistance selection experiments are also conducted in cells that have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 or nirmatrelvir. These tests assess whether the main protease is capable of mutating to produce resistant strains. These studies are required by U.S. regulators and global regulators for antiviral products. They are performed by many academic institutions and companies in the U.S. as well as around the globe.

There’s a lot of doublespeak and hiding behind language there. Pfizer says it doesn’t conduct gain-of-function studies, but admits that in some cases it does. “limited number of cases,” To create the COVID-19 virus, the company invents it. “enable the assessment of antiviral activity in cells.” This seems to require a lot more explanation. It seems somewhat contradictory to their original claim.

The real issue here is what is worth the risk and what isn’t. It’s not completely out of line for a pharmaceutical company to do research toward developing vaccines for possible variants. This would make it seem as though the pharmaceutical industry is trying to suppress positive research from medicine’s history.

With that said, it seems pretty clear, at least in my view, that Pfizer isn’t doing what it’s doing because they fear future variants, and with so many people already having been infected, the efficacy of more and more boosters remains in doubt anyway. Pfizer makes billions from antivirals and COVID-19 vaccines. They have every incentive to continue pushing boosters while insisting that they are necessary because of this. “variants.”

Their statement isn’t going to convince anyone on the fence. It’s obfuscatory and confusing at best, and given Pfizer’s history of misleading the public, there’s no reason to take the company’s word for anything.
