FBI Offers Help In NJ Investigation As More Details Emerge About Murdered GOP Councilwoman
The FBI It is now “involved” In the investigation into Murder Of New Jersey Republican Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour reveals more about her personal life, including the circumstances leading to her death.
Dwumfour was 30 when she was driving up to her Sayreville, New Jersey home in her Nissan SUV. Now, the FBI has offered its help as a team of investigators from the Sayreville Police Department and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office search for more information about the slain councilwoman’s life in hopes of finding any clues that will bring them closer to catching her killer, ABC 7 reported.
“We are aware of the investigation into the death of Councilwoman Dwumfour, in Sayreville Wednesday evening. We have talked with our local law enforcement partners at the Sayreville Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Should they ask us for any assistance, we will do all we can to help their investigation,” The FBI provided a statement.
After she was shot multiple times, Dwumfour’s vehicle reportedly traveled around 100 feet before hitting two parked cars. Police later Submitted The New York Post reported that the New Jersey politician was caught on video speaking with the shooter minutes before she was shot to death.
Eyewitnesses say they saw the gunman run toward Garden State Parkway after firing multiple times into Dwumfour’s vehicle. ABC 7 reports that police received a tip and searched the woods behind Dwumfour’s home for the murder weapon, but didn’t report any results.
Dwumfour was defeated by her Democratic opponent and elected to the Borough of Sayreville City Council. Dwumfour was also a part-time EMT, a business analyst, and was heavily involved in The New York Post, a Nigerian church group. reported. The Republican councilwoman was the eldest of five children who were born to a Ghanaian couple. In December, Dwumfour Celebrate getting married. She is also the mother to an 11-year old daughter from a previous marriage.
Uneven a year after her election, Dwumfour was involved in a controversial incident. Dwumfour was known for being a kind and gracious public servant, who got along well with everyone she met during her time on the borough council.
“[Eunice] was very well liked by anybody who spoke to her or had any dealings with her, so this was really a shocking event,” Arthur Rittenhouse, former Chair, Sayreville GOP, stated that the Post also included, “She had a very, very pleasant personality. And she was a woman of her faith, and she always expressed that to whomever she was speaking to,”
