Democrats Mock Those Concerned About China Spying On U.S., Accuse Biden’s Critics Of Helping China
Top Democrat lawmakers ridiculed people who were concerned about their safety Chinese This spy balloon was trying to track the U.S. through this week’s downplaying of the threat.
The spy balloon was destroyed by an F-22 Raptor equipped with one A9X sidewinder missile. It was launched at approximately 58,000 feet. After President Joe Biden allowed the balloon’s flight over the continental United States for several days, it was decided to shoot down the spy ballon.
Democrat legislators were quick to mock and attack those who were worried about Communist China spying on the U.S.
“I hope everyone understands the performative unseriousness of Shoot the Balloon Down twitter,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) tweeted. “It’s not real. It’s all theater.”
Murphy was added a few hours later after the balloon had been taken down. “See. All better, bed wetters.”
Rep. Don Byers (D.VA) fired a staffer last year after being accused of being Spies caught Communist China also dismissed the seriousness that China might spy on American strategic sites.
“Great news for my Republican colleagues, they can stop panicking about a balloon now,” Byer tweeted.
Senator Chris Van Hollen (D, MD) attacked Biden’s critics for not firing down the balloon sooner and claimed that they were actually helping China.
“No foreign power can violate our sovereignty,” He wrote it in a now-deleted Tweet. “I applaud @POTUS for his order to shoot down China’s spy balloon in a smart and safe way. Fine to ask tough questions, but those already playing politics with this only serve the interests of our adversaries.”
Biden attempted to win a victory lap after the spy balloon was shot. He claimed that he “ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down on Wednesday as soon as possible,” However, it was decided not to shoot it over land as debris could cause injury if it landed on the ground.
U.S. officials reportedly “well aware” that the balloon had crossed into American airspace on January 28 and that it was over Idaho on Tuesday, but decided not to inform the public to not upend Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s diplomatic trip to China.
