U.S. Military Reveals Size Of Chinese Spy Balloon, Says It Potentially Carried Explosives
General Glen VanHerck, U.S. Air Force, told reporters Monday that the Chinese spy ball that was downed off South Carolina’s coast on Saturday could have explosives aboard so that it could self-destruct.
VanHerck, Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), stated that the balloon measured up to 200 feet in height and weighed approximately 200 pounds. “in excess of a couple thousand pounds.”
He stated that it could have contained explosives, and officials believed this. “to detonate and destroy the balloon.”
