Don’t Expect Democrats On Republicans’ New Select Committee To Act In Good Faith

Democrats banned minority appointments to the Select Committee, which was established in June 2020. Republicans were open to the idea of establishing a Select Committee on the weaponization and deregulation of the Federal Government. The new committee’s first hearing on Thursday, however, dispelled any ideas that Democrats will participate in good faith.

The investigation was initiated by Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican Committee Chairman. Reforms are desperately needed U.S. intelligence agency.

“We expect to bring forward legislation that will protect the American people,” Jordan stated this in his opening speech. “We hope our Democrat colleagues will work with us.”

Democrats responded to the invitation by making hyperbolic claims that Republicans were seeking conspiracies. Democrats also used the hearing to demand Republicans disclose whistleblower reports, even though Democrats denied whistleblower reports to Republicans under Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s speakership.

The Democrats then interrupted the second panel’s questions to demand the same transparency they have refused to provide Republicans over the past four year. Democrats demanded the names of all those who spoke out after Republicans mentioned multiple FBI whistleblowers revealing bias within the agency.

“There has been a lot of mention of information and testimony that you all have received from whistleblowers,” New York Rep. Dan Goldman D in a point for order “When are you planning on providing that to the minority?”

Jordan informed his Democrat colleague that minorities lawmakers were welcome at the transcribed interview with one FBI whistleblower, who testified Tuesday.
