Senior House Dem Demands Transparency From Biden on UFOs

On Sunday, the top Democrat on House Intelligence Committee lamented a lack in transparency by the Biden administration regarding the spate of unidentified objects the U.S. military shot down in the past days.

“I have real concerns about why the administration is not being more forthcoming with everything that it knows,” Rep. Jim Himes (D. Conn.), is a member the “Gang of Eight” During a Sunday interview on NBC News, lawmakers were briefed regarding classified intelligence.

Himes stated that he was disturbed by the recent shoot-downs, which included over Alaska, Canada and Lake Huron, of objects. “massive speculation about alien invasions and, you know, additional Chinese action or Russian action.”

“I do hope that very soon the administration has a lot more information for all of us on what’s going on,” Himes said.

Himes’s request to have more transparency comes as President Joe Biden still hasn’t publicly addressed the shootdowns of unidentified items. John Kirby, Pentagon spokesperson, spoke at a press conference Monday. China has an “high-altitude balloon program for intelligence collection” But he couldn’t identify the origin of the objects.

The silence of Biden on a possible national security threat has prompted calls for the president’s reassurance.

“The president owes the American people an explanation, direct and on camera, of what we know about these ‘objects’ and what steps he’s taking to protect America’s sovereign airspace,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) Monday. “No commander in chief should hide behind press secretaries and anonymous sources in a time of crisis.”
