Sam Brinton, an ex-official from the Department of Energy (DOE), is expected to appear before a Minnesota court Wednesday to face charges This is a result of a September bag theft.
Brinton was arrested in October for stealing the luggage of a woman worth $2,325 from the baggage claim area at Minneapolis St. Paul Airport. The incident occurred on September 16. Brinton is facing up to five year imprisonment and a $10,000 fine according to a Hennepin County Court criminal complaint.
The hearing was initially scheduled for Dec. 19, but was postponed to Feb. 15, following a request by Brinton’s defence counsel. However, the judge in charge of the case rejected multiple requests by defense lawyers to allow Brinton remote access to the hearing.
