Haley filed her candidacy papers at the Federal Election Commission. Her bid was announced in a Twitter video.

Haley, who under Trump served as United Nations Ambassador, is expected frame her campaign in a contrast with Trump and seems to indirectly target him in her video announcement.

“You should know this about me. I don’t put up with bullies. And when you kick back, it hurts them more if you’re wearing heels,” Haley stated. “I’m Nikki Haley, and I’m running for president.”

Haley is also expected to make her first campaign appearance in Charleston on Wednesday.

From 2011 to 2017, Haley was South Carolina’s governor. Former secretary of state Mike Pompeo and Florida governor Ron DeSantis are among the other candidates who could join the Republican primary.
