Biden: Some White People ‘Still Want To’ Lynch Black People
President Joe Biden This week, White House Movie Screenings claimed that some white people had been harmed. “still want to” Lynch black people.
Biden made the remarks at a screening on Thursday “Till,” A film about Emmett Till (14-year-old black boy) who was lynched by Mississippi in 1955.
“You know, folks, lynching is pure terror, enforcing the lie that not everyone belongs in America and not everyone is created equal,” Biden said. “Pure terror to systematically undermine hard-fought civil rights. Innocent men, women, children hung by a noose from trees. Bodies burned, drowned, castrated.”
“Their crimes? Trying to vote. Trying to go to school. Trying to own a business. Trying to preach the gospel. False — false accusations of murder, arson, robbery,” Biden claimed. “Lynched for simply being black, nothing more. With white crowds, white families gathered to celebrate the spectacle, taking pictures of the bodies and mailing them as postcards.”
“Hard to believe, but that’s what was done. And some people still want to do that,” Biden claimed.

PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT
JOE BIDDEN, PRESIDENT (Applause.) It was an honor. It was one the greatest honors in my career. The Emmett Till Antilynching Act made lynching a federal hate offense.
Lynching, you know what? It is pure terror. It enforces the lie that not all Americans belong in America and not all Americans are created equal. To systematically undermine civil rights that have been hard fought. Noose suspended from trees to hang innocent children, men, and women. Bodies are burned, drowned or castrated.
They are guilty of crimes Voting. Going to school. The goal of owning a business. Trying to re- — preach the gospel. False — false accusations of murder, arson, robbery. Lynched because they are Black. White families joined the celebration, taking photos of the bodies and sending them to each other as postcards.
It’s hard to believe that this was possible. Some people want to continue that dream.
