Rhode Island Democrat David Cicilline To Resign From Congress
Rep. David Cicilline, D-RI, announced Tuesday that he will resign as a member of Congress. This follows 12 years of service during which he was one of the Democratic Party’s most powerful political foes of former President Donald Trump.
In a statementCicilline stated that he would remain in office until June 1, 2023 when he will take over as the president and CEO of Rhode Island Foundation. A powerful charity nexus in state.

Cicilline is an openly gay man. He was mayor of Providence, Rhode Island between 2003 and 2011. Before joining Congress. Cicilline, a member of the House LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, was made chairman. Cicilline is a member of the powerful Foreign Affairs and Judiciary Committees.
