Top Biden Official Clears Ukraine of Misusing U.S. Aid

According to a senior Biden administration official, Ukraine is not misusing the tens billions of dollars it receives in direct financial aid from the United States.

Samantha Power, Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development(USAID), made the affirmation public during a CNN Live Town hall Thursday night

Her assurances came just hours ahead of the White House revealing It would provide $2 billion more in military aid for Ukraine to mark the end of its war with Russia. This will bring the total amount of American military support to Ukraine to $30 billion.

A former Obama administration official claimed that Ukraine had made progress in fighting corruption, while officials continue to monitor the use of taxpayer dollars.

“Up until this point, we don’t have any evidence that U.S. assistance is being misused or misspent but, again, the key is not resting on anybody’s goodwill or virtue,” Power.

She was responding a question regarding Ukraine’s long history in corruption. “It’s checks and balances, the rule of law, the integrity of officials,” Her confidence in Zelensky’s administration was due to the addition of power.

Since the beginning of war one year ago, more than $100 million in U.S. military and humanitarian aid has been given to Ukraine. However, there have been concerns about corruption.

President Zelensky tried to clear the air last month, sacking several officials after corruption allegations.

Power acknowledged the corruption allegations and explained that the U.S. Government Accountability Office had launched a new initiative for Ukraine to expand its auditors institution. This will be necessary for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Power added that the U.S. does NOT provide resources for Ukraine such as health workers and disability support unless officials receive receipts for expenditures. Officials then act on the basis to reimburse Ukraine for its expenses.

Some House Republicans raised concerns about U.S. support for Ukraine. They asked how money was being spent and sought to audit the money trail. Breitbart News reported that some House Republicans were skeptical. reported.
