Sampdoria, a team from Italy’s Serie A, was the recipient of the package, which arrived in a box at club headquarters this week. It came from an unknown sender.

“UC Sampdoria expresses profound outrage and indignation in the face of yet another serious act of intimidation that took place this morning at the company headquarters in Piazza Borgo Pila,” On Saturday, the team issued a statement.

“The company underlines that any type of attack on a member of the Board of Directors represents an attack on all its members, on their work and on the seriousness and abnegation with which they have approached this important position,” The statement went on.

This isn’t the first time this year that the club has been threatened with a threat package. Sampdoria was threatened by Ferrero and Edoardo Garrone when a bullet-shaped package arrived in January.

In 2021, Ferrero was removed as club president after being charged with financial crimes in the wake of a probe into his alleged bankruptcy offenses. His arrest was not related to club operations and allowed him to retain control of the team through family holdings.

Fans have criticized the 71-year old for refusing to sell Sampdoria to new owners, claiming that he is exhausting Sampdoria’s finances and causing financial and performance problems.
