Twitter Lays Off Another 50 Employees in Eighth Round of Job Cuts
Elon Musk’s The Information reported that Twitter laid off many employees Saturday, marking at least the eighth round in job cuts since Musk assumed control of the social network late October.
The job cuts affected multiple engineering teams, including those that support advertising technology on Twitter, as well the technical infrastructure needed to keep Twitter’s systems operating. According to the report in the U.S. technology magazine, which was published early Sunday, people who have direct knowledge of the matter.
Twitter did not respond immediately to Reuters’ request for a statement.
Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion in November and Twitter fired approximately 3,700 employees.
The Information reported that Musk’s latest job cuts were intended to offset the drop in revenue and further reduce a staff of around 2,000 that had been reduced by at least 70%.
