In A Just World, ‘Cocaine Bear’ Would Sweep The Oscars

Spoilers ahead.

A bear discovered a stash of cocaine in 1985 in Chattahoochee National forest in Georgia. It had been dumped by Andrew Thornton, a trafficker. The bear consumed the drug, or all, and eventually overdosed. Version of the story you prefer. The movie was released in 2023. “Cocaine Bear,” Story written by Jimmy Warden, directed by Elizabeth Banks. The story takes a different turn when the bear develops an affinity for the drug, and then goes on a murderous rampage.

The end result is a shining example for the kind of content Hollywood should be creating.

It’s a rollicking, gory romp through several stories, which are intertwined because of the cocaine bear. Daveed is Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr. who has been charged by Syd. Ray Liotta portrays Ray Liotta as one of his characters. Final rolesWith the help of duffle bags, he recovered the drug that was scattered throughout the forest. Alden Ehrenreich plays Eddie. He is a widower who wants to quit the family business, but is also grieving for his wife’s death from cancer. They meet a hoodlum along the way. The story of their friendship is one of buddy comedy.

Dee Dee and Henry are two children who skip school to go to a hidden waterfall to paint it in mid-day when the lighting is perfect. Dee Dee and Henry’s story is one of a coming-of age story. Dee Dee’s mother Sari, played ably by Keri Russ, attempts to rescue them from the murderous bear that has escaped the forest.

Finally, Bob (played Isaiah Whitlock Jr.), a Missouri cop who is sent to Georgia to hunt down the gang members, arrives. It’s a tale of falling in love with a froufrou purse-dog and the dangers associated with climbing on top of a pergola without thinking about how to get back down. And it also includes getting shot. His story supports the above two and also the stories of a park Ranger, hippie conservationists she hopes will woo, two EMTs, and some hooligans.

Although all those people are killed by the cocaine bear, it doesn’t kill or dismember them all, but most of them. The majority of the main characters survive, but they all come together to learn lessons about friendship, parenting, and how to fight a coca-addled bear.

Heads are taken out. Limbs torn. Blood splattering hither and thither. There are many body parts that bounce hither and thither. There are jokes. Eddie learns from the hooligan how he can communicate better with his son. There are also tender moments. Eddie is taught by the hooligan how to communicate better with his son.

There are no lectures. There aren’t any teachable moments, except for the one at the beginning.
