“The Nanny” Star Fran Drescher Calls for Hollywood to Boycott States to Promote “Diversity,” Ban Single-Use Plastics to “Save the Planet”
Current SAG-AFTRA president The NannyTar Fran Drescher urged her industry to boycott some states of the union, while boasting about ending the union “single-use plastics” Sunday night’s SAG Awards.
The 65-year old comedian actress spoke to the audience about a variety of topics, including green initiatives and combating ageism, ending industry vaccine mandates, and boycotting states.
“I’m proud to say SAG-AFTRA & MPA have forged Green Council, the biggest joint effort of Stars and Studios to save the planet since WWll,” She said. “Mission 1: an honor system to eliminate single-use plastic on camera, behind the scenes, and leverage star power to challenge audiences around the world to do the same!”
Drescher was shocked to learn that attendees of the SAG Awards were given glass water bottles at their tables. She then thanked the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), for allowing stars to change their genders and hide their age on their profiles. She called for the end of vaccine mandates which could be ending in the industry as early as April, according to Deadline.
Drescher’s call to boycott those states of the union who do not promote the best values of the union was the most left-leaning part. “freedom, diversity, inclusion and democracy.”
Together, SAG-AFTRA (and the NFLPA) created Actors & Athletes for Democracy. We are the most influential people on the planet, and we must work to promote freedom for ALL.
The industry we work in brings millions of dollars to the states. But if they want our business let’s use our financial power to ensure that governors act in the interests of democracy, freedom, diversity, inclusion, and democracy.

Drescher didn’t attempt to specify which states should be boycotted. However her statement came after the industry demanded that states like Georgia or Alabama boycotted for their strict abortion restrictions. As Breitbart News Reports from September Last year, just months after the Supreme Court reversed its decision Roe v. WadeSome of Hollywood’s most prominent showrunners, TV creators and directors have expressed their gratitude to the major studios.
“At the end of July, more than 1500 of the industry’s top showrunners, creators and directors signed a letter asking nine major employers to lead the way and establish safety protocols for employees in abortion-ban jurisdictions after the death of Roe v. Wade,” The letter stated.
“As leaders on our productions, we cannot ask people to choose between their fundamental human rights and their jobs,” It continued. “There are dozens of productions on the ground today in anti-abortion jurisdictions. Their employees need answers right now about how to safely seek reproductive health care.”
The letter ended with a request to the studios for urgent action and policies creation. “that will keep our cast and crews safe in anti-abortion jurisdictions may be hard, but it is necessary.”
