Will Alexander: “Equity” Is Not Equality – It’s Revenge
The drama I’m currently watching is “The Greatest Drama I’ve Ever Seen” SasmosAlpha TV launched a series called “The Countdown” in 2021. This series was broadcast on Alpha TV, a Greek channel free to air that is based out of Kifissia in Athens.
I don’t know Greek. There are no English captions. My Greek-speaking wife Tess, whose parents immigrated from Crete during Ellis Island, made it possible for me to keep watching Sasmos.
Set in a mountainous village of Crete, the story focuses on two families – the Vroulakis and the Stamatakis – who are entangled in a 20-year blood feud that, if not stopped, threatens to spill into a new generation. The story’s main purpose is to get to sasmos (or reconciliation).
After ArgyroVroulaki meets Asteris Stanatakis in Berlin, the plot turns interesting. Asteris is on her return journey to Crete. Everything goes according to plan. They fall in Love, and it’s all very real.
They have no idea they come from the same village in Crete. Argyro does not know that Asteris, Vassilis Stamatakis’ youngest son, is her father’s murderer. Asteris does not know that Argyro, who is the niece Pavlos Varoulakis, was plotted to murder her father as revenge.
It was the “not knowing” That made it possible to fall in love. It is the incessant repetition of family tragedies, which is kept fresh by older generations, that keeps old hates flowing into new generations.
Once they had everything, it was too late to hate. A simple passion blossomed into a deep love that transcended old hatreds. Argyro & Asteris could have been the perfect excuse for both families to change their story, but the volcanic pressures from the old vendetta force them into secret love.
Recommendation
It is heartbreaking to see two families with good intentions struggle through deep historical hatreds in their quest for reconciliation.
It’s clear that Argyro is with Asteris, and not the tit for tat sins committed by their elders. However, the older generation cannot let go of hatred and clings to it. Even the smallest slight can give them an excuse for family war.
“How can you love the son of the man who killed your father?!” The older generation that confuses raw hate with respecting the dead is guilty of guilt. For them, reconciliation is about forgetting hatred and revenge. You are being held prisoner in that “love,” they are the villains of reconciliation – of sasmos.
This stubborn hatred is what kept blood feuds between them. The McCoys and the Hatfields For almost three decades. It made the Hutus of Rwanda blind. Butchering 1994 saw 800,000 Tutsis innocents. This is why Arab hatred toward Israel continues to rage today, just as it did in 1944. It’s the same explosive stuff that Democrats, activists and global technocrats use as a way to inflame black anger towards whites.
“Innocent men, women and children hung by a noose from trees,” Joe Biden spoke last week at an a White House screening A new film about Emmett till. “… bodies burned, drowned, castrated, lynched for simply being black – nothing more. With white crowds, white families gathered to celebrate the spectacle, taking pictures of the bodies and mailing them as postcards. Hard to believe that’s what was done. There’s some people still want to do that.”
Still? Who, Joe? Of course, not one soul. “Some people” Ghosts are real.
Biden and his ilk are reduced today to jerryrigging tragic history to grossly deform current events in order to create menacing white-racist devils that don’t exist. “white privilege,” “systemic racism,” “white supremacy.”
It is so frustrating because “some people still want to do that” It is a terrible lie that deepens long-unhealed racial wounds. This stuff is being used to “equity” racial relations by a new generation of Americans.”
Executive Order The Federal Government is further advancing racial equity and supporting underserved communities. It also includes a clause which embeds diversity and equity into the federal government. “Government-Wide Processes” Use artificial intelligence.
But the struggle for so-called “racial equity” has nothing to do w/ real justice. Equity is free from distortions and theatrics. It is powered by the same primitive stuff which fuels all blood feuds: hate, revenge, tribalism and violence.
Wicked politicians make use of the sins committed by older generations to keep and gain power. Meanwhile, angry blacks hold on to old hatreds and seek revenge. Biden’s new diktat has institutionalized a vendetta.
This is the most bizarre vendetta in history, because it’s entirely one-sided. A new generation is being whipped by whites, who were not harmed during slavery. Worse still, the government dares them not to shoot back, despite all the terrible consequences. “Be sitting ducks … or else.”
And it’s happening years after we witnessed the ultimate symbol of racial reconciliation – the election of Barack Obama. Twice. Without the sacrifices of many white people over two centuries, this election wouldn’t have been possible. “all men are created equal” ideal.
Some whites today have gone so far as to agree that math, milk, meritocracy, etc. are not good ideas. “master” Bedrooms are rooted by racism. Or that five black cops beat a black victim to death in a majority African city, with a white police chief is white supremacy. anti-black racismSelf-hatred, and self-harm.
I find this stuff to be very Greek. There is a way to stop this madness.
Argyro hates Asteris over several episodes. This is after Petros, her brother, was killed. Petros is a young, hotheaded man who harbors the Vroulakis hatred and disapproves Asteris. Petros draws a gun, fires in the air at Asteris’ car and then shoots at him wildly. Asteris, fed up of being a sitting duck attempts to take the gun. The accidental fire accidentally kills him. Petros’s death opened the door to a new chapter of the vendetta.
“We told you so” Argyro was told by the elder Vroulakis.
Argyro, who knows everything, found a way for Asteris to love him as deeply as ever in recent episodes by forgiving him. Forgiving was the only version “not knowing” That made it possible to fall in love again.
This is exactly what angry blacks who are clinging to Joy Reid-like hate in 2023 need to do: Forgive.
Just let go.
This is what Professor Walter Williams did long before he issued his 2007 “The Last of Us” book.Proclamation of Pardon and Amnesty to All Persons with European Descent“, which also addressed America’s other race problem: white guilt.
“I, Walter E. Williams,” It can be read, “do declare full and general amnesty and pardon to all persons of European ancestry, for both their own grievances, and those of their forebears, against my people.
“Americans of European ancestry will be able to stand tall and proud from now on, knowing that they are not guilty and therefore no need to behave like fools in their relationships and interactions with Americans of African origin.”
When angry black liberals let go of past hatreds and guilt-stricken whites stop acting “”Like damn fools,” it will be obvious that all this equity stuff was a ruse, orchestrated by sly politicians and activists against menacing white ghosts.
