- New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is facing a third accuser as news breaks that the governor’s office has allowed the NY AG to open an independent investigation.
- Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia emphatically stated that he would not waver in his support of the filibuster tool. According to reporters, he said, “Never…What don’t you understand about never?”
- President Biden on Monday held a virtual meeting with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to discuss, among other issues, immigration. It is reported that Obrador sought to bring back the “Braceros” work visa, which was abolished in 1964.
Far from being the man who would unite America, it seems the Fourth Estate has revised its position and is now calling Joe Biden the man who could, maybe, possibly unite the Democrat Party. Numerous outlets report that in the run-up to the COVID relief package hitting the Senate floor, President Biden is not reaching out across the aisle but rather to the disaffected in his own party.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has called on Democrats to ignore and defy the Senate Parliamentarian for her decision on the $15 minimum wage proposal. He also called for the end of the legislative filibuster. It appears there is little Sanders will not do to achieve his goals… other than actually joining the Democratic Party.
Former CIA director turned MSNBC contributor John Brennan said, “I’m increasingly embarrassed to be a white male these days.” Of all the things he could be embarrassed about, lying to Congress or arming terrorist groups, choosing one of his immutable characteristics to feel shame over smacks of mere virtue signaling. His self-deprecation caused host Nicole Wallace to giggle delightedly. Have we reached the stage where happiness is now achieved by public self-flagellation over one’s race?
A thought for the day from history’s most interesting thinkers.
“The theory was simple: If a man had enough sense to accumulate a bunch of cash, then he would certainly make a worthy U.S senator.”
― John Grisham, The Client
