Stacey Abrams Pops Up In Nigeria As An Election Observer, Losing Side Promptly Alleges Rigged Results

Georgia’s gubernatorial candidates have twice failed Stacey Abrams As part of a crew of 40, the group was present in Nigeria this week. They were observing the polls in the African nation’s elections. Now parties that appear to have lost are claiming it was rigged.

Abrams is currently on a trip with the National Democratic Institute (International Republican Institute) and the National Democratic Institute. He told media that there was excitement amongst voters.

Despite Abrams glowing comments, it is important to note that Nigeria has a strict voter ID law. This law uses voter ID machines in order to protect the voter’s vote. Abrams has been an advocate of long-term voter identification. Claim The U.S. voter ID laws are tantamount of oppression or racism.

As of Tuesday, the opposition parties to Nigeria’s presidential election were calling for a re-run, claiming that the results had been corrupted partly because certain voter ID technology was taken from polling places. This can cause delays and glitches.

A joint statement was released by the People’s Democratic Party and Labour Party as well as the African Democratic Congress claiming they have lost faith in Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the electoral body.

“We call on the international community to note that the results being declared at the National Collation centre have been heavily doctored and manipulated and do not reflect the wishes of Nigerians expressed at the polls on February 25, 2023,” The statement .

Abrams’ posse seemed to agree with this evaluation.
