DOJ Says Trump Can Be Sued Over January 6
The Justice Department (DOJ), Thursday, announced that former President Donald Trump could be sued for breaching the U.S. Capitol, January 6, 2021.
“Speaking to the public on matters of public concern is a traditional function of the Presidency, and the outer perimeter of the President’s Office includes a vast realm of such speech,” Attorneys for the DOJ Civil Division submitted a Briefing for the court.
“But that traditional function is one of public communication,” They were also added. “It does not include incitement of imminent private violence.”
Trump has been sued by 11 Democrats and two Capitol Police officers in an attempt at holding him responsible for the January 6 events.
