A family of suspected criminals
Many questions remain about the backgrounds of five of the suspects currently being held.
Police wanted Alex Kwong Kongchi’s ex-husband Choi for theft. Kwong Kongchi was a former sergeant officer who was charged in 2005 with sexual assault.
Both incidents weren’t resolved.
Kwong Kong Chi manipulated four individuals to buy gold in 2015. It cost HK$5million (US$637,000). Kwong was later convicted of seven charges each for theft.
Kwun Tong Magistrates heard the case. Kwong failed to appear in court and did not report to the station. Kwong forfeited bail and was taken into custody by court.
Kwong was also taken by American Express to court for owing HK$100,000. He owed HK$100,000.
Kwong Kong Chi was a fugitive. Abby Choi Tinfung was a good friend of Mrs. Pao. She pointed out that Kwong could still travel between Hong Kong, China, for many years.
Kwong Kou’s Sexual Assult Accusation Was Cold
Regional Crime Squad also arrested Choi’s father and step-father. He was accused of sexual assault. Kwong Kou quit and has since left police.
Kwong Kai has not been arrested or charged in any further proceedings. It seems that the case is still not resolved.
Ng Chi-sum is a senior commentator who questioned the actions of the Mongkok Police Station after the 2005 case of sexual assault.
A second officer was also convicted in 2008 of the same offense, and sentenced for 12 years. The 2005 case was not resolved, and the victim forgot about it.
Ng stated that Kwong was released from the sexual assault charges against him because there wasn’t enough evidence. Does the evidence not suffice to prove it a crime or insufficient? Oder did the victim refuse to testify?
“Alternatively, did the police believe that sergeant Kwong was a good friend to them so he was released? Ng said that the police did not answer any of these questions.
Ng asked the police to come out and tell the public.
Ming Pao, a local media outlet, asked the Department of Justice on February 26 if they had decided to bring Kwong Kou, an ex-police sergeant, to trial for rape. However, neither side responded by the deadline.
Ex-family Requirements
Choi supported her husband’s family even after the divorce. She bought a luxury apartment worth more than HK$70million (US$9million). Her entire family moved into the Kadoorie Hill home. Further complications were created by the fact that the property belonged to her ex-father-in-law Kwong Kou.
Choi planned to sell the property. She was searching for a new place to call home for her husband’s family. According to police, an argument occurred that led to Choi’s death.
Fung Kin-hei, columnist, argued that Kwong Kou might have been less likely to commit a murder if he had been charged or imprisoned for sexual assault.
Kwong Kong Chi would have been arrested if the Hong Kong police had pursued fraudsters like they did to “National security offenders” Fung stated Abby Choi might not have starved to death if the Hong Kong Police and Department of Justice had performed their duties.
