Mechanic Sees Drivers Trapped on Icy Road in Brutal Winter Storm, Frees Them for 7 Hours Till 6 AM

The western U.S. was hit hard by a winter storm last month. Many motorists were left stranded due to the cold and many abandoned vehicles littering the roads.

Two local heroes pulled out twenty drivers who were trapped in the blizzard that hit Washington on February 22nd.

Alec Higley from La Center, 27, was an Uber driver. He was driving to his client when traffic got stuck on Columbia Boulevard.

Many found it difficult to drive because of the deep ruts on the icy roads.

He then called Jonathon Gilbert (27) who was his best friend ever since kindergarten. Jonathon is an off-road enthusiast, and also owns Honest Jon’s Auto.

Gilbert was not asked to assist a friend.

“I didn’t even ask him to come help; he just offered,” Higley shared his thoughts with The Epoch Times. “He went to La Center to help out his family and told me he was on his way. He even brought food!”

Higley, who had been trapped for approximately seven hours, was finally freed by Gilbert when he arrived in his Pathfinder around 11 p.m.

After grabbing his tow ropes, he began helping to haul Higley’s Tesla 3 away. He was quick to get the job done.

“He proceeded to tow over 20 cars,” Higley spoke. “[He] even attempted to pull the semi-truck up the hill and managed to move it enough to open the off ramp and clear the highway to dozens of other vehicles that had been waiting to get through for hours.”

Gilbert is naturally drawn to helping his community.

“I believe that if you have the capacity to help someone you should do it,” He spoke to the newspaper. “I’m also a 4×4 enthusiast. There were so many cars; it was kind of a call of duty.

“The drivers were aided by us until 6 AM, which took about 7-8 hours.
