GOP senators react to Tucker Carlson’s segment on Jan. 6: ‘It’s bulls***’
SEveral Republican senators chose words to describe Tucker Carlson, after he broadcast the first of several segments from the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot. “bulls***.”
Carlson stated that his exclusive access Security footage taken on the day of the Riot did not show any evidence. “deadly insurrection” But “mostly peaceful chaos” And that “very little about Jan. 6 was organized or violent.”
This footage was pulled from thousands of hours worth of footage that Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-CA, gave to Carlson. It was aired Monday night on Carlson’s popular nightly show.
“I think it’s bulls***,” Sen. Thom Tillis(R-NC). told CNN. “And I saw maybe a few tourists, a few people who got caught up and things … but when you see police barricades breached, when you see police officers assaulted, all of that … if you were just a tourist, you should have probably lined up at the Visitor Center and came in on an orderly basis. I just don’t think it’s helpful.”
Senator Kevin Cramer, R-ND told the outlet. “To somehow put that in the same category as a permitted peaceful protest is just a lie.”
Senator Mike Rounds (R, SD) stated that more outlets should have access to surveillance footage than Fox. “I thought it was an insurrection at that time. I still think it was an insurrection today.”
Sen. Mitt Romney, R-UT called Carlson’s depiction “depreciating”. “very dangerous.”
