Trump Is ‘Only Choice for America,’ Flag-Waving Supporter, Others Say at CPAC
Donald Trump “the only choice for America,” After hearing Joseph Verderber Jr. speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference, (CPAC), outside Washington last weekend, Verderber Jr. declared himself to be Joseph Verderber Jr.
John Verderber was accompanied by his brother John and were flag-waving patriots during CPAC. All accounts indicate that the crowd was heavily biased towards Trump. It remains to be determined if that popularity extends beyond the CPAC arena.
Many attendees, especially the college-aged crowd, believe Trump’s bratty style has caused division in the Republican Party. They don’t expect to get crossover votes from Democrats or Independents.
The majority of CPAC attendees at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center did not seem to agree with Verderber’s stance.
Verderber, a New Yorker was an atheist until tragedy. Joseph L. Verderber (24 years old) died in 2016 from a fatal overdose of fentanyl.
Verderber then saw the fervent Trump’s commitment to stopping drug flow from China and Mexico to the United States. Verderber became interested in politics. He’s now all in. He’s especially determined to fight for Trump. “this current regime has a wide open border,” Potentially, this could lead to even more deaths from fentanyl.
Florida Governor is a still unnamed challenger to Trump. Verderber admitted that Ron DeSantis could make a great president. However “now is not the right time” DeSantis, or any other person who lacks knowledge of the inner workings “the D.C. Swamp,” Verderber said.
Verderber feels that Trump only has the intelligence and the know-how to get it clean. “The Swamp is done,” Verderber declared. “Watching that is gonna be fun.”
He is certain that Trump is the best candidate to unite the party under his leadership. “America First” policy and win the White House back for the GOP by 2024.
Straw Poll Landslide
CPAC’s straw poll showed that Trump was confident with the results, receiving 62 percent more votes than DeSantis (who received only 20%).
DeSantis missed the conference and caused quite a stir. DeSantis instead participated in a Florida fundraiser.
The single-digit figure includes all other possible candidates, which include a trio declared challengers: Perry Johnson (Michigan businessman), Nikki Haley (ex-Gov. South Carolina Governor) and Vivek Rajaswamy (entrepreneur, author).
Ramaswamy, post-CPAC, gave an interview to Fox Business on March 6. He claimed that a consultant had contacted him campaign and stated, “Hey, we can get you up to No. 2 on there (in the CPAC straw poll) if you pay one hundred thousand dollars.”
In a tweet Ramaswamy uploaded a video to the interview. He also commented on it, and the post was viewed more than 340,000 times. “Shocking to see how corrupt this process actually is. My #1 promise this year: I will expose the corruption and will not hold back.” Ramaswamy didn’t disclose the identity of his consultant.
CPAC organizers didn’t immediately reply to my request for comment regarding Ramaswamy’s statement.
The conference, which ran March 1–4, also was criticized for seemingly drawing fewer attendees. Photos of empty chairs began appearing online. They were supposed to illustrate the inattention Trump received. However, the chairs and carpets in these photos were not representative of the place where Trump gave his speech on March 4.
An Epoch Times reporter snapped a photo showing how only a few rows in the back were occupied just 15 minutes prior to Trump taking the stage. The rest of the ballroom which can hold approximately 5,000 people seemed filled.
CPAC organizers claimed that those rows were filled later. Megan Powers spokeswoman for CPAC. “Despite the Biden inflation economy, it was a full house in the ballroom during President Trump’s speech, which did not even include those watching online.”
Powers also denied reports that attendance had been poor. “It is typical that the fake news is making up fake ticket sales to portray CPAC as a failure. We had to stop ticket sales on Friday (March 3) because we were at capacity,” Powers in a text to The Epoch Times “Numbers were on par with where we were the last time we were in DC in 2020.” Powers didn’t give any specific numbers, however organizers stated that the straw poll saw a record-breaking number of votes, with more than 2000.
Trump is loved by immigrants
Interviews with CPAC participants revealed a strong enthusiasm for Trump. Those who expressed only mild opposition or support seemed to be very few, except in the case of younger people. Even most said that they would support Trump even if he were the nominee.
Many immigrants said that they supported Trump because he fiercely defends the freedoms which attracted them here. Some Americans aren’t understanding what is at stake, they say. They have never experienced living under an oppressive government. However, they claim President Joe Biden’s government has allowed them to experience it with his vaccine mandates as well as other heavy-handed intrusions into personal liberty.
Stephanie Liu (Chinese-American) wearing the red hat of Donald Trump “Make America Great Again” slogan, says Trump has worked hard to fend off the threat of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Liu stated that Trump’s strength instills courage in her and others, even though she is concerned about the CCP looking for communists.
She feels that Americans can’t understand the cruelty of this regime.
Liu worries that the United States is moving in this direction. Liu spoke of a prime example, citing the two-year imprisonments without bail for people who were detained on multiple charges related to Save America protests that supported President Trump’s on January 6, 2021.
“Don’t forget the J-6ers!” Passersby at CPAC heard Liu shout.
While some protestors did break windows or confront the police at the U.S. Capitol building, the majority of people peacefully participated in the huge demonstration against the irregularities in 2020’s presidential election.
The true stories about what occurred that day were suppressed by four individuals who were accused of nonviolent acts. told an overflowing CPAC session on March 3.
Photos of an angry mob “insurrectionists” Tucker Carlson, Fox News’ commentator on Fox News said that the media has dominated news coverage for much of the last two years.
He said that footage of officers calmly leading people to the building was hidden by Democrats trying to create an anti-Trump story. After Republicans won the U.S House of Representatives majority, Carlson’s team released thousands of hours of video exclusive to them.
Liu stated that four days prior to the footage airing, she had told The Epoch Times (CPAC) that she was opposed to U.S. citizens being detained without bail.
“This is un-American,” Sie said. “How can America have political prisoners?”
Liu is a Washington resident who has been part of a group which, over the past months, held nightly vigils outside Washington jail singing patriotic songs in an effort to lift prisoners’ spirits.
According to her, 35 of those in that group have contributed $100 each per month to help pay for a place where the relatives and support staff can live free.
“We are people who take action.”
At CPAC, Liu was surrounded by dozens of people as she gave a passionate interview to Trump’s surrogate Steve Bannon.
They began to chant. “Take down the CCP!” Liu smiled and said that the reply encouraged her.
Bannon is credited with starting the New Federal State of China political group, which is a lobbying group that aims to topple the CCP.
Some Young Voters Favor DeSantis
Five students of Liberty University, a Christian university located in Lynchburg (Va.), sat down for photos and chatted with The Epoch Times.
The school’s staff includes all students. “The Liberty Champion,” When one mentioned that DeSantis was their preferred president, the twenty-somethings nodded unison.
James DuVall admitted that he really does like Haley.
“She is different than Trump, more gentle in approach, and represents a broader demographic,” DuVall spoke in reference to DuVall’s status as the child of immigrant parents.
Kristina said, however, that Haley came across to her as “too weak.” She thinks DeSantis comes across as “more bipartisan.”
“Trump divided the Republican Party more than he’s helped it,” Smith spoke. Smith said. “hated” Famous Twitter storms by the former President.
Micah Gilmer was disturbed by Trump’s comments about illegal immigrants. “He seemed to imply that all illegal immigrants are bad,” Gilmer stated. “Some of them are people who just need a new home and a new start.”
Gilmer stated that Trump’s expressions seem to reflect his character flaws. “The way he talks and behaves all go to the man inside,” He stated.
Kristen Pace stated that she didn’t like Trump’s name calling.
The five students all said that they generally supported Trump’s policies, but his style was what bothered.
Smith responded that style is important when he was asked. “Policies do affect people the most. But personal character and integrity affect people just about as much as policies do.”
Political circles may say: “There can be no Trump policies without Trump.” DuVall, however, disagreed. “Anyone can do the policies,” He stated.
Trump would be the Republican nominee “I would most likely vote for him,” Pace was sent a message by text. “I think most average Americans, whether they be Republican or Democrat, have seen the pitfalls of Biden and may be more likely to swing for the upcoming election.”
Smith responded by text as well: “Even though he’s not my first pick (or even my second pick), he would be favorable over Joe Biden or another Democrat candidate. I’d rather support a candidate with strong policies and poor morals than a candidate with poor policies and poor morals.”
Smith was skeptical as to whether or not the straw poll represented all Republicans. CPAC, she thinks “seemed to be filled with Republicans that are more on the extreme side” “mega-Trump fans.”
Different Viewpoints
Patrycja Brylska (24 years old), an immigrant hailing from Europe was proudly sporting Trump gear.
“I love Trump for so many reasons,” Sie said. “I think the most important thing for people to consider is his policies… I truly believe he is the only president I have seen that has actually loved America so much that he was willing to sacrifice everything that he has in order to bring comfort to this country, to the American people.”
Brylska listed the policy she loves: secure borders, support for the police and the military, creating jobs, strengthening the American economic system. “everything that touches our everyday lives.”
“I think he does an incredible job,” “She said. Because he is outsider, she thinks the establishment strongly opposes his ideas.
“He’s a billionaire; they can’t buy Trump, and that’s why they hate him.”
Brylska replied: “Even if some people don’t like his style, this is why he’s been so successful.
“He will not accept any offer from anyone. He is a strong advocate for his views and will speak his truth. He does not need to hide his feelings.”
And while Trump does engage in name-calling that some people see as childish, “Most of the time, they deserve it. I’m not sure it does any harm to the party.”
Brylska grew up in Florida, and she likes DeSantis. But, for her, there’s no comparison.
“DeSantis, a governor who has amazing policies and is an incredible leader,” she said. “Donald Trump is the only one who I believe can effectively run the country and correct all of the problems.”
