‘They Can’t Be That Stupid’: Journalist Slams NYT For Claiming U.S. Officials Suggested Pro-Ukraine Group Attacked Nord Steam Pipelines
Seymour Hersh was an investigative journalist who claimed last month that U.S. Navy undercover divers had remotely triggered explosives at the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. She burst into laughter when she heard the New York Times claims. “pro-Ukranian group” The attack was carried out.

Anonymous officials, cited by The Times, did not give details on the dark group which they claimed blew up that pipeline. However, they maintained the attack was not a result of the United States or the United Kingdom.
“Oh my God — ‘Intelligence suggests Ukranian …,'” Hersh spoke before breaking down into laughter. “Oh, my God. Oh my God.”
Hersh released an in-depth report on Substack, alleging that undercover U.S. Navy divers placed explosives on the pipeline last summer during training exercises.
The report, based on testimony of an unnamed source claimed that President Joe Biden saw the pipelines in a means by which Russian President Vladimir Putin might use the natural gas supplies to fuel his territorial ambitions.
Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the White House said that the idea that the United States had destroyed the pipelines is not true. “false and complete fiction,” Tammy Thorp, spokesperson for the CIA, said that it was “completely and utterly false” Hersh asked her for a comment.

Some European officials suggested that Russia might have damaged its pipelines. Others disagree. blamed The United States.
Since more than a decade ago, geopolitical conflict has been centered around the Nord Stream 2 pipelines. As a retaliatory action against Western Europe, Russia halted Nord Stream 1 shipments months into the conflict. Germany, however, blocked Nord Stream 2 from initiating shipments just days prior to the start of the war.
