9 Boxes of Biden Documents Taken From Boston Office Not Reviewed for Classified Materials

Nine boxes of documents found at President Joe Biden’s Washington, D.C., think tank and shipped to the Boston office of attorney Patrick Moore haven’t been reviewed for classified material, according to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

In a letter dated Tuesday, Acting Archivist of the United States Debra Steidel Wall answered specific questions asked by Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson, both Republicans from Wisconsin, addressed Sens. about NARA’s knowledge of Biden’s discovery of records in Boston during Chuck Grassley’s time as vice-president.

Wall provided answers to questions about how and when NARA learned about the transportation of Biden records to Moore’s Boston office, whether the Archives notified the inspector general or the Department of Justice (DOJ) about the discovery of these records, and whether any of the records included pseudonyms and email addresses used by then-Vice President Biden, and more.

“NARA staff retrieved nine boxes from Mr. Moore’s Boston office,” In response to senators’ questions, Wall wrote (pdf).

NARA has not publicly revealed the total number of boxes removed from Boston.

Biden’s legal team began to review materials at Penn Biden Center, October 2022. There they found 10 classified documents that were discovered on November 2, 2022. NARA received notification the following day from NARA that NARA had obtained nine boxes of documents.

The matter was referred to the Office of Inspector General on November 4, 2022 by the Archives. It was informed “that some boxes had been moved to Boston,” According to the letter, NARA is unable to determine the exact dates at which they were moved.

The 10 classified documents were discovered just two days before the November midterm elections, but their existence was not disclosed publicly until nearly two months later.

‘NARA Has Not Reviewed the Contents of the Boxes’

Johnson and Grassley questioned NARA about whether any Biden records at Moore’s Boston office had pseudonyms of email addresses that were associated with Vice President Biden in their February 24 letter.

“NARA has not reviewed the contents of the boxes found at Mr. Moore’s Boston office,” Wall replied, saying that they hadn’t reviewed the documents for potential classified or sensitive material.

NARA didn’t collect the boxes at Moore’s office from them until November 9, 2022. The letter states that the DOJ requested the NARA to transport the boxes to Boston’s John F. Kennedy Presidential Library.

Uncertain if the DOJ reviewed boxes containing classified materials. The Epoch Times reached the DOJ to obtain comment.

Wall assured Johnson and Grassley NARA has no information about other areas where Biden could have stored documents from his time in office as Vice President. The U.S. Constitution requires that presidential and vice-presidential records be given to NARA in order for them to be preserved after a president has left office.

“NARA only has direct knowledge about boxes that were located at the Penn Biden Center and at Mr. Moore’s office in Boston,” Wall wrote. “NARA has informed DOJ that, in accordance with the Presidential Records Act (PRA), any Presidential or Vice Presidential records that DOJ obtains from any other location must be returned to NARA no later than the conclusion of their investigation.”

Investigators

On Wednesday, Senator Intelligence Hearing Chair Mark Warner (D.Va. expressed frustration The refusal by the intelligence community to give congressional access to classified information recovered from places associated with Trump, Biden and Mike Pence.

Warner claimed that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence had denied the committee access classified documents because of its stance. “that we have every right to see in terms of our oversight role” doesn’t “pass the smell test.”

“This trust relationship has to go two ways,” He was referring to intelligence community and committee relationship.

Biden attempted to downplay The classified material found at Penn Biden Center, Wilmington, Delaware. On Feb. 8, he claimed their contents dated back to 1974 and were simply “stray papers.”

This was in response to a question from a journalist about Biden’s comments concerning classified materials that were found on Trump’s Florida estate August 2022. Biden refers to this as “totally irresponsible.”

Biden also claimed that staffers had failed to do a good job in reviewing paperwork from his previous office.

“But one of the things that happened is that what was not done well is, as they packed up my offices to move them, they didn’t do the kind of job that should have been done to go thoroughly through every single piece of literature that’s there,” He stated.

Robert Hur, a former Maryland U.S. attorney has been named by Attorney General Merrick Garland to serve as special counsel for the DOJ’s investigation into the documents. Hur is charged with determining whether Biden and those who were associated to him have violated law by handling the documents.
