WATCH LIVE: Senate holds public health and the environment hearing in wake of Norfolk Southern crash

THe Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will be holding an hearing Thursday, April 4, 2009: We will examine the ways in which we can protect the environment and public health in light of the derailment of the Norfolk Southern train. East Palestine, Ohio.

Hearsay, chairman Tom Carper (D–DE) Ranking member Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), will be focusing on health issues that plague East Palestine’s community since last month’s toxic train crash.

It is possible for Sens to testify at the hearing. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), J.D. Vance (R-OH), Bob Casey (D-PA), which has been most affected by the train derailment in their states and communities.

Representatives of Norfolk Southern, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Ohio EPA met with the Beaver County Emergency Services and Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commision.
