Is conservatism what you think it is? You’re likely to get 10 answers if you ask 10 people. Understanding what conservatism means and isn’t in this confused American moment will give you clarity and help bring sanity back to the public square and increase your chances of curing America’s ills.
This is a great way to get hungry while you read it. You see, I am not going to tell you what conservatism is. You are invited to taste it. While on a road trip through California, I visited the Keizer, Oregon In-N-Out Burger, where I had dinner. While eating I became aware of the living and vibrant American conservatism. It wasn’t just a meal – it was a primer in what it looks like to conserve worthy goals, methods, and values. Grab some food and sit down. Let me tell you how.
In-N-Out Burger is first committed to preserving worthy goals. In-N-Out Burger was founded by Harry Snyder and Esther Snyder in 1948. They combined their innovative drive-thru concept with traditional ideas about quality and customer service. Russell Kirk, an American thinker, said that this was a way to cater to both the need to preserve and improve. In-N-Out always placed the customer first. The company headquarters provides continuous training to new managers in the philosophy. This ensures that each location of In-N’Out has the same goal: providing a pleasant dining experience for all customers.
In-N’Out is known for its bright, welcoming environment both outside and within. You’ll also notice a straightforward, simple menu. You won’t feel overwhelmed and there is little chance that your favourite combo may have changed.
It’s easy to notice how friendly and helpful the team members are. The uniforms of team members, which are dressed to impress in striking red and blue, show unity. Statement-making teshirts, inappropriate tattoos and unkempt hair will not distract you. It’s also likely that you will smile as you approach the counter and as you receive your food, or even as you eat. Good customer service is becoming a rare commodity in today’s digital age. It’s appealing for young workers to have a positive attitude and to be able interact with them as they do their jobs.
In-N-Out Burger is a leader in keeping those standards. They were successful because of it. voted makers of ‘the best fast-food burger in America’ A 2022 survey found that the restaurant was a leader in most categories, such as food quality, staff friendliness or cleanliness and healthy options.
In-N-Out Burger’s second secret weapon is its ability to preserve worthy techniques. While competitors might perfect their fries at a science laboratory and use the most advanced artificial processing methods, In-N’Out prides itself on being unique. Fresh beef is used to make burgers. The original way buns are made from sponge dough, with no preservatives. Each day, Associates cut the leaf lettuce and prepare fries with 100% sunflower oil.
In-N-Out Burger’s commitment to freshness means that they will not build another restaurant more than one day away from their family-owned businesses. But being conservative doesn’t mean you have to ignore current trends. Many restaurants are finding ways to accommodate common allergies, such as In-N-Out Burger. You can order your burger if you have a gluten allergy or wish to cut down on calories. “protein-style” – sandwiched between fresh leaves of lettuce.
In-N-Out embraces traditional techniques not because it lacks imagination nor is unwilling to adapt to modernity. In-N-Out recognizes that the traditional ways of cooking are still the best.
In-N-Out Burger also preserves good values. In-N-Out Burger prints scripture references on their cups, wrappers, and fry boats. Not the whole text of verses — simply the book, chapter, and verse. John 3:16 will be found on your soda cup. “For God so loved the world…” The wrapper for the Double-Double burger’s famous Double-Double burger will have Nahum 1:7 printed on it. This reminds us that our Lord is. “a stronghold in the day of trouble.” Richard Snyder was the son of the founders. The family touch has since been extended by Lynsi Snyder, the current CEO.
It is a tribute to America’s Judeo-Christian faith tradition. A successful American business will often acknowledge that something is more than profit and a delicious hamburger. This shows how trustworthy we are in times of uncertainty. The tendency to treasure the eternal is known as conservatism. The simple reminders of lasting principles are small and effective, such as the timeless Bible verses on disposable cups or wrappers for the trash can. The reminders that although the grass dies and the flowers go, certain things will last.
The definition of conservatism in today’s politically charged climate is at stake. “What do self-described conservatives stand for in 2023?” NPR asks Bloomberg in a headline. “American and British Conservatives Are Frozen in Failure.” While many political and cultural conflicts are grounded in current events, conservatism urges us to look deeper. To be better stewards and to build a better tomorrow. In-N-Out Burger’s preservation of noble goals, methods and values is an example of a strong American conservatism. And it’s tasty!
