Dem Causes Hilarity By Asking Twitter Files Authors About A ‘Threesome’

A Democratic Congresswoman accidentally caused havoc at a Capitol Hill hearing by asking two journalists for the Twitter Files information about her partner.

Before Rep. Sylvia Garcia, D-TX asked her an unintentionally ribald query, she seemed to be following the Virgin Islands Democrat Del. Stacey Plaskett pressured Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger and other journalists to divulge their secrets.

“When was the first time Mr. Musk approached you about writing the Twitter files?” Garcia asked Taibbi.

Taibbi was about to reply, when she stopped him and began saying: “I just need a date, sir.”

“I can’t give it to you, unfortunately, because this is a question of sourcing, and I don’t give up my — I’m a journalist and I don’t reveal my sources,” Taibbi has the answer.

“It’s not a question of sources; it’s a question of chronology,” Garcia said.

“No, that’s a question of sourcing,” Taibbi responded calmly.

“You earlier said that someone had sent you through the internet some message about whether or not you would be interested in some information,” Garcia pressed.

“Yes, and I referred to that person as a source,” Taibbi declared.

“So you’re not gonna tell us when Musk first approached you,” Garcia was unsuccessful again.

“Again, Congressman, you’re asking a journalist to reveal a source,” Taibbi has the answer.

“Then you consider Mr. Musk to be the direct source of all of this?” Garcia asked.

“No, now you’re trying to get me to say that he is the source,” Taibbi replied.

“Well, he is or he isn’t; if you’re telling me you can’t answer because it’s your source, well, then the only logical conclusion is that he is, in fact,  your source,” Garcia insisted.

“You’re free to conclude that,” Taibbi spoke.

“You can’t have it both ways, but let’s move on —” Garcia said.

“No, he can, because he’s a journalist,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-OH), offered his opinion.

Later, Garcia asked Shellenberger, “In your answer, you said you were invited by a friend, Bari Weiss?”

“My friend Bari Weiss,” Shellenberger said.

“So this friend works for Twitter?” Garcia asked.

“She’s a journalist,” Taibbi interjected.

“Sir, I didn’t ask you a question,” Garcia said. “I’m now asking Mr. Shellenberger a question.”

“Yes, ma’am, Bari Weiss is a journalist,” Shellenberger said.

“You work in concert with her?” Garcia queried.  Garcia asked. “Do you know when she was first contacted by Mr. Musk?”

“I don’t know,” Shellenberger answered.

“You don’t know,” Garcia then mused and asked the question which caused journalists and other people in the room, to have a good time. “So you’re in this as a threesome?”

After Garcia finished, Jordan spoke up.

“I do think it’s worth pointing out that I have cosponsored, I think some of my colleagues have cosponsored the SHIELD Act in previous Congresses with Democrats to protect [against] what we see them trying to do today,” He fired. “Protect journalists from having to reveal their sources to government. That used to be a shared position in the Congress. Unfortunately, as we’re seeing now —multiple occasions — it’s not the position anymore.”
