Virginia Teachers Union Pushes Senate Democrats To End ‘Anti-Asian’ Victims Of Communism Day
Virginia Education Association got the Senate Democrats of the commonwealth to oppose a Victims of Communism memorial bill because of its alleged insensitivity. “anti-Asian” These sentiments demonstrate the union’s historical ignorance as well as woke ideology and educational incompetence.
Recent weeks have seen Democrats in Virginia’s Senate and commonwealth teachers union show that they view history as a tool for racial ideology rather than as a way to understand the past. A few days later It was defeating an Indian American nominee Based on her absurd claim that she is associated with white supremacists and Democrats in a Senate Committee managed to offend Asian Americans as well as victims of communism by making this ridiculous claim. This incident serves as further proof of the problems in the commonwealth’s schools.
The latest scandal was when Democrats in a Senate committee voted along party lines in order to keep a House-passed bill locked in the committee. The following is the controversy. Bill would have been required The governor would issue a proclamation declaring Nov. 7 Victims Of Communism Day. It would have directed public K-12 schools to observe this day and to honor those who died under communist regimes.
Lawmakers did not show sympathy for the roughly 100 million people who were killed in communist countries. As if that weren’t enough, the legislators stated reasons for opposing this seemingly innocuous measure.
The Virginia Education Association represents public school teachers. It was opposed It was “concerned that this bill would subject Asian American students to anti-Asian sentiments,” citing the fact that eastern Asia contains four out of the five remaining communist regimes — all except Cuba.
Some may argue that Democrats always followed the political orders from teachers unions. The fact that they opposed the resolution honoring 100million people who died under communism is a sign that Democrats will blindly support the teachers unions in their ideology destruction of historical educational. In many ways, however, it is not enough to ignore those who were killed by communist regimes.
Teachers union said they opposed the bill due to anti-Asian sentiments. In other words, the union’s leadership believes its members — Virginia public school teachers — cannot teach K-12 students how to differentiate between the atrocities committed by corrupt communist regimes — whether the current Chinese Communist Party, the old Soviet Union, or the Castro regime in Cuba — and the innocent people living under those regimes.
It is astonishing that teachers union members believe Virginia public educators can’t teach history of communist regimes without inciting anti-Asian bias. It is hard to believe that any commonwealth teacher would want to be associated with an organization that seems to consider its employees incompetent.
Virginia Education Association can take steps to combat bias against Asians if it really wants to. Fairfax County school board removed a test-based admissions system for Thomas Jefferson High School. Instead of solely admitting students based on merit, the school board has now attempted to rig the process to reduce the number of Asian American students attending the school — all in the name of “equity.”
Ironically enough, this divisiveness — pitting one group against another in a zero-sum game, all under the guise of “equity” — echoes the beliefs and tactics of communist regimes. The left’s main goal is to get people to confess. “sins” For “equity” In some respects, this brings to mind the “struggle sessions” The Cultural Revolution in China. These struggle sessions made it necessary for dissidents in order to ingest the party’s lies. This was done to confuse them about history as well as truth, and humiliate them over their mistreatment of pseudo-religious doctrines.
After many years of Learning loss caused by the pandemicVirginia’s students have to make up the ground with high-quality education. They need teachers who are competent and willing to share the lessons of history with them. A school that focuses on developing their minds and skills, and not indoctrinating them with woke ideology.
The Senate’s inability to pass the anti-communism legislation shows how badly Richmond’s Democratic legislators are undermining the children of the commonwealth.
