People’s Republic of China considers Taiwan part of their territory. They have been building military capabilities in order to force Taiwan into unification. The PRC has increased its military capabilities in recent years. Are the Chinese getting ready to wage war on Taiwan?
A panel discussion will take place at 10:00 am. ET on March 10, 2010, by the United State Institute of Peace. Alexander Chiehcheng Huang is a Professor of Institute of Strategic Studies Tamkang University; Phil Saunders (Director of Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs National Defense University); Andrew Scobell (Distinguished Fellow), U.S. Institute of Peace; Joel Wuthnow (Senior Research Fellow, Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs National Defense University) will discuss these issues.
Jennifer Staats, Director of East and Southeast Asia Programs for the U.S. Institute of Peace (USI), will moderate the conversation.
