Cartel Suspected Of Killing Two Americans Sends Apology Note, Turns In Members Responsible: Report

A Mexican A cartel accused of murdering two Americans in an armed kidnapping attack has reportedly turned over its members and sent an apology letter.

The Gulf Cartel According to Mexican media, the organization reportedly handed five of its members over to Mexican authorities. “For this reason, we decided to hand over those directly involved and responsible for the acts, who at all times acted under their own determination and indiscipline and against the rules in which the [Gulf Cartel] always operates,” According to the letter.

A group of Americans from Texas crossed into Matamoros a week ago. One of them was planning to undergo cosmetic surgery at a Mexican hospital. In downtown Matamoros, a group of suspected cartel members drove a pickup truck and fired upon the group, killing two Americans, injuring one, and killing a Mexican woman. The fourth American wasn’t physically injured.

The disappearance of four Americans was reported by the U.S. authorities last week. A friend of the group reached out to authorities, after which they began investigating the matter. The four Americans were later found in Ejido Longoreño, a rural area outside of Matamoros. A man, who was one of five alleged cartel members, was guarding them. The man later surrendered to police.
