George Santos denies involvement in 2017 credit card scam
Rep. George Santos (R-NY), denied participation in a Credit card fraud He claimed that he was in the 2017 era. “innocent” Friday was the anniversary of the alleged masterminding of the operation by a former roommate.

“Innocent,” Santos spoke to reporters on Capitol Hill. “Never did anything of criminal activity, and I have no mastermind event. I cooperated with Secret Service, FBI, everybody that asked for my help. Got information for them. Got everybody arrested and deported.”
Santos tried to distance himself from Gustavo Ribeiro Trelha, who was a former roommate. This was confirmed by Politico. Santos claimed that he had met Trelha only once “a couple of times in my life,” According CNN
Trelha filed a sworn declaration to the FBI Wednesday alleging that Congressman “oversaw” Credit card skimming was a crime that took place in Seattle in 2017. Trelha was found guilty of credit card fraud in Seattle and was deported to Brazil where he is currently from in 2018.
“I am coming forward today to declare that the person in charge of the crime of credit card fraud when I was arrested was George Santos,” Trelha wrote the declaration Obtained By Politico.

A 2017 court recording does not prove that Trelha was Santos’s roommate. However, Santos can still be heard.
