Poll: Most Americans Want Buttigieg To Quit Transportation Post
The Transportation Secretary has been criticised for his department’s response in the wake of the East Palestine train tragedy.
A majority of American voters wish for Pete Buttigieg, embattled transportation secretary, to resign after his department’s botched response to the East Palestine train crash and toxic chemical releases.
According to a survey, fifty-one percent of voters stated they want Buttigieg fired. New Rasmussen Reports poll. This compares to just 36% who believe he should stay. Fourty-one percent believe Buttigieg does a worse job today than the past transportation secretaries.
Buttigieg was almost silent for two weeks following the Feb. 3 train derailment at Norfolk Southern in East Palestine, Ohio and the subsequent release by authorities of toxic chemicals into the water supply. He visited the town three weeks later. After The crash occurred one day after ex-president Donald Trump visited the devastation town.
Buttigieg has been scathing about the criticism he’s received over his handling of crisis. Phone Trump’s claim that he visited the town only because of it “bullshit.” He was in East Palestine for his visit. Blaming Others, particularly Republicans.
“It’s really rich to see some of these folks—the former president, these Fox hosts—who are literally lifelong card-carrying members of the East Coast elite,” CNN interviewed Buttigieg.
Buttigieg stated to CNN that the controversy taught him to do the right thing in light of the criticisms he received. “performative work.”
“Sometimes people need policy work, and sometimes people need performative work,” Buttigieg said. “And to get to this level, you’ve got to be ready to serve up both.”
Buttigieg also is under investigation for his private use of government jets.
