DeSantis Yanks Hyatt Regency Miami’s Liquor License For Hosting Holiday Drag Show With Kids Present

The state of Florida is revoking the Hyatt Regency Miami’s liquor license after the hotel’s event center hosted a drag queen-themed Christmas show back in December in the presence of minors.
Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation submitted a 17-page report. Complaint The Hyatt Tuesday Violation of a state statute That prohibits lascivious or lewd exhibitions in front of 16-year-olds and younger. The complaint states that the Hyatt’s drag show was hosted by the James L. Knight Center.
Performers forcibly rub their exposed prosthetic female bras against the faces of audience members or oral cavities; intentionally exposing the performers’ female prosthetic breasts and genitalia; simulating masturbation via performers’ digitally-penetrating female progenital; and graphic depictions or childbirth or abortion.
The show is titled “A Drag Queen Christmas,” The Christmas-themed drag spectacle features participants from reality TV shows and is on tour across the country. “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
The department warned the Hyatt not to admit minors before the show premiered. Otherwise, it could lose its license. However, the venue admitted minors provided that they were accompanied and supervised by an adult.
“Although Respondent [the Hyatt] updated its advertising to include a Disclaimer that the Show was ‘[r]ecommended for audiences 18+,’ Respondent’s admission policies specifically allowed for minor children to attend if ‘accompanied by an adult,'” The complaint says. “As a result, minors attended and were knowingly admitted into the Show by Respondent, including children appearing less than 16 years of age.”
The Florida governor has authority over Florida’s department of business. Ron DeSantis is a supporter of the complaint.
“Sexually explicit content is not appropriate to display to children and doing so violates Florida law,” Bryan Griffin, DeSantis Press Secretary Business Insider. “Governor DeSantis stands up for the innocence of children in the classroom and throughout Florida.”
This isn’t the first time DeSantis has taken action against a business that hosts a drag show featuring minors. The Florida government was established in July 2022. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation issued a revocation of its liquor license last month. Filled The Orlando Philharmonic Plaza Foundation was criticized for staging the same Christmas-themed dragshow as the one that was attended by minors.
