Florida state attorney announces new arrest in Microsoft exec’s death

The state attorney’s offices announced Thursday that Jared Bridegan was being arrested again in connection to the murder. Jared is a father in Florida and Microsoft executive. Jared was shot in front his 2-year old child on February 16th.Th, 2022.  

Jared Bridegan, his 10-year-old twin son, and daughter, had just left Jacksonville Beach to pick up his ex-wife and was returning home to St. Augustine, Florida.

Bridegan sat with his youngest child in the car and decided to pull the vehicle over to the side. He also turned on his hazard light to help him move a tire which was stuck in the middle.

According to police, the ambush took place and Bridegan was hit multiple times from close range. An additional note was made by police that it appeared nothing had been stolen.

Melissa Nelson, Florida’s fourth-judicial district state attorney, and Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith discussed at a news conference that Mario Fernandez (the husband of Bridegan) has been arrested and charged with murder.

Mario Fernandez, 35-year-old, was the second husband for Shanna Gardner Fernandez, Bridegan’s exwife. Authorities took him in on Thursday morning in Orlando.

Gardner-Fernandez was a victim of a malicious divorce, and he and Bridegan continued to dispute custody and access to their funds until his death.

Bridegan’s ex-wife is from a well-off Mormon family, which owns a multimillion dollar papercraft company.

A tattoo parlor employee said Gardner-Fernandez asked him if anyone knew of anyone who could handle the situation. “shut him up” Just before the divorce.

Fernandez received a visit from agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with officers with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.

This news comes following the first arrest made by Henry Tenon, 61. He was arrested on Jan. 25, 2009.Th With conspiracy to murder, second-degree killing with a weapon and an accessory to capital felony.

The investigation by police revealed that the crime could not have been committed by just one person. Both men were involved in this slaying.

Fernandez knew Tenon because he was Fernandez’s ex-tenant.

Tenon agreed “testify truthfully against those he worked with to murder Jared Bridegan,” They spoke to reporters at the Jacksonville state attorney’s offices.

“Tenon’s cooperation has both corroborated evidence collected during the investigation and provided additional evidence against Mario Fernandez for his role in the planning and execution of Jared’s murder,” She added.

Nelson said that “the investigation remains active and ongoing and has not stopped today with the arrest of Mario Fernandez.”

Fernandez’s arrest warrant for Fernandez was released on Thursday. It revealed some horrifying new details.

The Affidavit His arrest warrant has been posted.

“Bullets struck the interior of the vehicle, in close proximity to where (his daughter Bexley) was strapped into her car seat,” The paperwork stated.

Bridegan’s wife and widow Kirsten Bridegan was present at the press conference. Adam Bridegan also read a short testimony.

“We have great relief knowing that two of the people behind my husband’s murder are now behind bars and are no longer a threat to our family. We are also still angry,” The widow spoke out about the heartbreaking loss she and her two children suffered. “We have fought hard for the truth… We know there’s still a long way to go before all of those responsible are truly held accountable, but today is a very significant day for our family,” She continued.
