Video Games Are Getting Re-Scripted By Leftist Translators

The attempt of woke editors to clean up the works Roald Dahl’s and Ian Fleming has been a source of much controversy. Leftists read through pages of text in an effort to find any words or phrases that could offend a young generation.

Gaming is also being affected by this censorious tide but with a higher level of woke shenanigans. Many popular video games are from other countries, such as South Korea and Japan. Social justice-minded translators are literally altering the scripts to push their propaganda.

Translation and localization are often required in order to import a video game from a different country. Translating is simply the act of translating a foreign word into its closest English equivalent. But what happens if the joke isn’t translated correctly to English?

Here is where the localizer steps in. He or she attempts to make cultural differences less confusing. It’s here that the left can do the greatest damage.

Eliminating Gender

“Fire Emblem Engage,” After it was revealed that all language regarding gender and sex had been removed by the localization team, the latest Fire Emblem game received harsh criticism from gamers.

Bounding into Comics reported, “Fire Emblem Engage avoids mentioning gender when players choose a male or female player character. Instead, they choose their ‘form.'”

One Twitter user shared how a scene in which one character asked another for a date and for their kind was changed to ask who their best friend is, probably because of concerns that the original text might have been sexist.

Localizers believe they can improve the Fire Emblem Series’ text. This is not the first time this has happened.

“Fire Emblem: Three Houses,” Released in 2019, several jokes were removed, including one about a man wearing drag. This one was probably cut by the Censors as it mocked the holy cow of the LGBT hierarchy.

As with the attempts to censor Dahl for modern sensibilities, so is the push to make linguistic changes in gaming. The woke scolds believe they can create a better script that the original game creators, and therefore feel they have a moral responsibility to intervene in it.

The radical left insists that they can write better then the foreigners playing these games. This is somewhat funny.

Leftist Cultural Relativism, or Superiority?

Leftists believe in cultural relativism. This means that no culture is better than another. They also insist that every person is unique and valid in their own ways. This kumbaya mentality seems to be incompatible with the disregard shown by these woke puritans towards foreign source material.

These terminally internet idiots believe there is a better culture than any foreign one. It is up to us to be pulled along, even if we have to scream.

The radical left’s mental dissonance doesn’t matter. They are still invading the gaming industry and changing it to suit their bizarre ends.

As with Dahl, it is important to preserve the original text created by these game creators. These works are a disservice to activists editors who insert their politics into the stories of others.

Slim Recourse

Gamers who want to just enjoy the game without being influenced by leftist propaganda have very little recourse as there is no easy-to-reference text. There are very few attempts to make fan-made translations or localizations. They also face legal challenges due to the fact that they exist in a murky area of copyright. There seems to not be much we can do except to learn a foreign language in order to escape our escapism.

The best way to end the censorship of gamers is to link them to the larger movement against woke meddling. Censored gaming is just like censored books and should be defended as such.
