Sens. Sens. “completely” Graham told CNN that Graham disagreed with DeSantis. “to say this doesn’t matter is to say war crimes don’t matter.” White House hopeful Nikki Haley also accused Florida governor Donald Trump of copying him.

John Feehery, a Republican strategist, said that the issue was 50/50, based on polling, making it more of an toss-up and that it’s likely for DeSantis, who will be out of synch with Washington Republicans.
“This positions DeSantis as an outsider/populist, so it would make him a natural heir to the Trump MAGA mantle should Trump falter,” He said. “The fact that many Republican senators who are closely associated with the political establishment are criticizing him is probably a net positive for DeSantis.”

The competition’s issues and standing and the issue environment in January of next year will determine how these positions might play. ”
Many have suggested that, while DeSantis’s comments are very different from Biden’s, their policy differences might not be as significant. Victoria Coates, Heritage Foundation research fellow, described the statement by the governor as common sense.
