GOP-led House panel to use investigative powers and ‘respond’ to possible Trump indictment

The GOP-led House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government plans to commence investigations into President Joe Biden’s family and Manhattan’s Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s use of federal funds.

The panel, headed by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), is expected to investigate Bragg’s potential indictment of former President Donald Trump by holding hearings and conducting an inquiry according to sources.

During the House Republican retreat in Orlando, Florida, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) mentioned that Republicans would scrutinize Bragg’s use of federal funds and indicated that an announcement from Jordan’s panel could be forthcoming as early as Monday.

Trump had anticipated his arrest and claimed that officials from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office are corrupt and highly politicized, prompting him to make the statement on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday.

Reports reveal that Bragg is getting ready to indict Trump on charges linked to the investigation into hush-money payments made to porn actress Stormy Daniels in 2016. However, Republicans claim that Bragg’s possible efforts to indict Trump are an abuse of power and politically motivated.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) criticized the proposed indictment of Trump, calling it part of the “gotcha mentality” prevalent in the current legal system and claiming that it is “one of the worst uses of the justice system we’ve ever seen” and is “flat-out wrong.”

News of Trump’s possible indictment coincides with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announcing that records show that additional business transactions occurred between China and the Biden family.
