Pres. Trump: ‘There Was No Crime’
On Truth Social, former President Donald Trump defended his innocence against rumors of an indictment by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. According to reports, Trump could be facing a possible indictment in connection with an alleged $130,000 hush money payment to adult actress Stormy Daniels. Despite these reports, Trump claimed there was “no crime, period” and called for an investigation into the investigators.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is leading the investigation, with Trump claiming that the Biden administration, Democrats, and Fake News Media are pushing him to pursue the case. Trump also criticized Bragg’s office for an alleged “abuse of power,” claiming that the prosecutor has different rules for political opponents.
Republican lawmakers have rallied to Trump’s defense, with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy calling for an investigation into the use of federal funds to pursue politically motivated prosecutions. Vice President Mike Pence and 2024 hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy have also issued statements condemning the possible indictment.
Despite the looming legal troubles, Trump remains active in politics, with his first campaign rally of 2024 set for March 25 in Waco, Texas.
