WATCH: Gingrich slams Ted Lasso cast appearance as proof of Biden’s ‘absolute shallow’ leadership

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich criticized the appearance of the cast of Ted Lasso at a White House press briefing, calling it a display of “the absolute shallow behavior of the Biden administration.”

During Monday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre introduced the cast of the television comedy ahead of their meeting with President Joe Biden to discuss mental health.

“We are in a very dangerous situation,” stated Gingrich during an interview with Hannity. “We have two major international competitors, Russia and China, coming closer and closer together. We have a president who clearly does not have a clue of what to do. We have a vice president who is an embarrassment and the best possible insurance policy for keeping Biden as president.”

“Not only is the show a situation comedy, but the Biden administration is a situation comedy,” added Gingrich. “That’s dangerous because the world is not a comedy.”

Gingrich expressed his extreme concern for the crises the United States faces, coupled with “a president who’s totally out of touch with reality in terms of what’s going on in the world.”

“Americans need to understand this is not a game,” Gingrich said, pointing to China and Russia’s recent displays of power. “I personally, as a historian, think that this is the most dangerous period we have been in since Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas night in 1776. The number of things going bad are so great, and the threat to our civilization is so great that we really need a dramatic change.”

Gingrich suggested that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are “gangster allies [who represent] a totalitarian, dictatorship-led world where they take care of each other against the democracies” — much like Italy, Germany, and Japan in the lead-up to World War II.

“Unlike the 1930s, we have a president dedicated to weakness, dedicated to confusion, and whose family — you just saw this last week — got $3 million from the Chinese Communist Party in one check. There’s a lot of other money out there,” the former Republican House speaker said.

“We have no idea how corrupt the Biden family is, but what we do know is that with an attorney general who’s as bitter and, as frankly dishonest, as the current attorney general, nothing is going to be done,” Gingrich continued, referencing Manhattan Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s potential indictment against Trump. “That’s a crisis in itself. You have an American system in an enormous crisis with the news media that doesn’t want to cover the truth.”

The appearance of the Ted Lasso cast coincides with Biden’s focus on mental health as part of his “unity agenda,” as mentioned in his 2022 State of the Union address.

Biden aims to “transform how mental health is understood, perceived, accessed, treated, and integrated — in and out of health care settings,” he stated.
