Colorado Dentist Who Allegedly Poisoned Wife Researched Poison For Weeks Beforehand, Police Say
James Toliver Craig, a Colorado dentist, who is accused of poisoning his wife, allegedly spent weeks researching poisons before the death of his spouse, according to police. An arrest warrant obtained by Buzzfeed News reveals that Craig tried to poison his wife with arsenic in her protein smoothie, which he made for her after they worked out. Craig’s wife felt dizzy and faint, and he took her to the hospital. The wife returned to the hospital with the same symptoms on March 15 and died.
Police searched Craig’s home the day after his wife died and found that he had researched poisons on his laptop. He searched for suppliers of chemicals and even looked up how many grams of arsenic could kill a human. Additionally, he searched for undetectable poisons that showed no signs of foul play, how to make poison, and the top ten deadliest plants.
The arrest warrant shows that Craig had cheated on his wife multiple times and had asked for a divorce. A staff member at Craig’s dental office reportedly told police that her boss had been acting strange and had used the computer in the exam room instead of his own laptop. The staff member found a package of potassium cyanide on March 13 and discovered that it caused the same symptoms Craig’s wife had experienced. The day after she did the research, Craig allegedly told his staff member that his wife had accused him of poisoning her.
Craig was arrested on Sunday and charged with first-degree murder. The police say that the case was complex and calculated, and they have been investigating the details of this case in pursuit of justice for the victim.
