Small Business Owners Sue Biden Admin for Racial Discrimination
Plaintiffs Claim Minority Business Development Agency Denied Funding Based on Race
According to Fox News, small business owners are suing the Biden administration for allegedly denying them federal funds based on their race.
On behalf of three small business owners, the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) is initiating a lawsuit against the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), which allegedly denied them assistance based on race. The MBDA solely provides services to businesses “owned and operated by African Americans, Asian Americans, Hasidic Jews, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders,” which WILL claims is unconstitutional.
Jeffrey Nuziard, a plaintiff and U.S. Army veteran, stated, “It’s just plain offensive that President Biden set up an agency devoted to helping some races, and not others. I just wish the Biden Administration would help all businesses in this difficult and uncertain economy, not just some based on race.”
In an attempt to promote racial equity, President Joe Biden established the MBDA as a permanent federal agency in 2021. Furthermore, Biden’s budget of $6.9 trillion for FY 2024 is designed to funnel billions of dollars towards initiatives such as subsidized housing for minorities and to “strengthen diversity and inclusion goals” in federal offices.
The MBDA is set to receive $110 million in funding as part of Biden’s budget plan. However, the agency did not provide any comments on the legal action.
