DeSantis to speak at evangelical Liberty University’s convocation in April
Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has been invited to speak at Liberty University’s convocation in April. The university announced the news on Wednesday.
The convocation, which will be held on April 14 at 10:30 a.m., is an event where prominent leaders address students.
“As a university that is committed to Training Champions for Christ with academic excellence, it is important for our students to hear from some of the nation’s top influential leaders who are committed to the Christian faith while serving in the public square. Gov. DeSantis comes in a long line of notable guests to Convocation. We look forward to hearing him encourage, educate, and inspire our students,” said Interim President Jerry Prevo.
Other notable leaders who have spoken at the university’s convocation include former Presidents Donald Trump and Jimmy Carter, 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), former Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R), the late former Sen. John McCain, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Convocation takes place on Wednesday and Friday and is known to be the world’s largest gathering of Christian students.
This is not the only speaking event that DeSantis has lined up for April. He is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th leadership summit.
Although DeSantis has not officially announced his candidacy for the White House in 2024, he is expected to run.
