‘So Thanks, Vogue’: Jennifer Aniston Blames Magazine For Taking Away Her Ability To Mock Adam Sandler
“Friends” actress Jennifer Aniston is blaming Vogue Magazine for taking away her ability to mock “Murder Mystery 2” costar and friend Adam Sandler.
Aniston explained during a Monday appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon that she used to chide Sandler — whom she’s known since she was just 20 years old — about his questionable fashion choices, but ever since Vogue named the “Happy Gilmore” star a “fashion icon,” her criticisms just don’t carry the weight that they used to.
The actress went on to describe a dinner in Italy with Sandler and his wife Jackie, noting that Jackie had been dressed up for the occasion and Sandler had been emphatically casual.
“Jackie looked beautiful in an eyelet dress. Her hair was done, and he shows up in basketball shorts,” Aniston explained. “Satin basketball shorts with white piping and Nike high tops. And turquoise velour Izod that had no relationship.”
“Now he’s like, ‘Vogue said I was amazing like this,’” Aniston continued. “So thanks, Vogue.”
According to the “We’re the Millers” star, the comedian often got his jabs in as well — usually with regard to whoever she happened to be dating at the time.
“Well, if I get anything from him, it’s ‘What are you doing?’” she intoned. “Usually based on someone I’m dating. ‘What are you doing? What’s wrong with you?’”
Despite the good-natured ribbing, Aniston and Sandler have been friendly since they first met at Los Angeles eatery Jerry’s Famous Deli — when she was 20 and he was 22 — and when they work together on films like the upcoming “Murder Mystery 2,” she often has to force him to take care of himself.

“He’s so concerned with taking care of everybody else, which he really does but he doesn’t take care of himself,” the actress said. “I have a little arsenal of herbs in my trailer and I make him smoothies when I can and give him all sorts of Chinese herbs when he is exhausted. I’m like the mobile pharmacy. Yeah, I’m the set medic.”
“Murder Mystery 2” is set for a March 31 streaming release on Netflix.
