Jeffries says House Republicans’ budget plan in ‘witness protection program’
Democrats intensified their criticism of House Republicans on Thursday for failing to outline specific spending cuts in their release of the national budget prior to the debt ceiling debate.
The witness defense system is where the Democratic funding system is concealed. It’s in an undisclosed location ,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries( D-NY ) stated at a joint press conference to discuss Democrat staff ‘ produced new Joint Economic Committee report. ” They have completely failed to present it.” They aren’t committed to progressing in a reasonable manner.

As the events get ready to fight over spending and the country’s saving limit, Jeffries’ line of attack has become a prominent Democratic refrain.
President Joe Biden challenged House Speaker Kevin McCarthy( R-CA ) earlier this year, saying,” Show me your budget, and I’ll show you mine.”
The Democrats’ focus has been on taking breaks put forth by the Freedom Caucus, a group of liberal in, in the presence of the House Republican Conference’s budget.
Democrats remain firm in their stance that House Republicans should raise the nation’s borrowing limit with no conditions. House Republicans continue to reject that position and assert they won’t pass a debt ceiling increase unless they have an agreement with the White House on budget cuts. Senate Democrats also continue to call on House Republicans to put out their plan. Meanwhile, Senate Republicans are waiting in the wings, leaving it all up to Biden and McCarthy.
Chuck Schumer, the majority leader of the Senate from New York, somewhat flung open the door to cuts unrelated to the debt roof.
However, the balance roof shouldn’t include that. Look, Democrats and Republicans will need to work together to pass a budget that isn’t [ continuing resolution ] but rather an omnibus. We completed it last year, and we will complete it once more. I won’t bargain in advance, he continued.

McCarthy has begun to connect with members who represent the various ideological strands of his conference behind the scenes.
There haven’t been any significant developments up to this point, and House Republicans still have not agreed on which spending reductions they want to impose, which could be a contentious social process.
